Our Christmas Fair is
Saturday November 23, 9:00am-2:00pm
The Village Christmas Fair
Click HERE to preorder Christmas Fair items.
Watch for sign up sheets for cookie baking, pie baking and assorted other homemade/handmade items. Our delicious lobster stew will also be sold via pre ordering only and there will be no sit down luncheon.
Nita, our jewelry guru, will be bringing back the gently used jewelry table this year! A few words from Nita:
“Remember that pretty necklace or funky pair of earrings that you have in your jewelry box but never wear? How about donating it to the Gently Used Jewelry Table? There will be a basket on the Harvest Table for your donations soon. Unlike the White Elephant and Book rooms, who request that you hold your donations until the week before the fair, for jewelry THE EARLIER THE BETTER! It takes time to match up all of those earrings and untangle the necklaces. Plus, I may be making some creations with the broken or mis-matched pieces. So, please look through your jewelry boxes and see if there are any items that you haven’t worn for a while that could find a new life adorning someone new. Thank you! If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me at rlbdhome@msn.com.”
Also note, this is for jewelry items only. We will not be collecting or selling any “boutique” items such as scarves, purses, etc.
Karen G. will be heading up the very popular Frozen Food Sale.
Karen would like you to know that we are beginning gathering frozen entrees, soups, etc. in September. This will give her time to sort and label. Cook an extra portion of meatloaf, stew or bowl of delicious soup and set it aside to help fill the freezer. Label everything and let Karen know via email what you are dropping off in the kitchen freezer. Containers are available in the library. Karen can be reached at karengallati@gmail.com.
Lisa C. and Heidi W. will work their magic in the library to create a magical Christmas Room. Donations will be taken starting now, please leave them in the lobby, clearly marked “Christmas Room”. No lights please.
Sheran and crew will offer up a Handmade section, including some popular painted bottles, handcrafted ornaments and much more glorious handcrafted items.
Carol B. will be heading up the Knitted/Sewn section. Gloves, scarves, blankets (and a lot more!) all lovingly hand made. We seem to have an excess amount of dishcloths, please hold off on knitting anymore. Check with Carol to see what she needs more of cbeyna@juno.com
Serena has been super busy Quilting and sewing. There will be a section of all her rustic and prim items that should not be missed.
Wooden handcrafted items will be featured.
Tickets for ever popular 50-50 raffle will be available
Ellen K. and crew will be creating Wreaths
The Cumberland Woodbank will be raffling off a cord of wood, proceeds to a good cause.
Gift Baskets are very popular and sell well. We are going to solicit items from you and baskets will be made by the talented mother-daughter team Sharon M. and Chris S. Details and content suggestions will be coming via email later this month. Hopefully it will be very simple for you (or a partner[s]) to contribute to this very profitable section. Stay tuned for more info.
Country Cupboard jars will start to be available in October in the Connector. Grab a couple and fill ‘em up!
Books and White Elephant items will be collected the week before the fair, not prior please, as we have no storage. We will not be having a separate children’s section in the PH.”, White Elephant will however. Both sections will be in the Chapel and Connector.
Lastly, we need your support. Besides donations; set up, breakdown and cleanup will be needed and appreciated. Of course “sales clerks” the day of are also needed. There will be a volunteer sign up sheet going out in October, please be generous with your time!
If you are not a crafter or a baker, but still wish to help out, monetary donations to underwrite the raffle items or lobster can be made, just ask me!
It goes without saying that our Christmas Fair is only successful with the help of many wonderful people and I am truly grateful for whatever help you can give!
